- ✓You certify that you have performed or will perform $100 worth of assessment work per claim
- ✓You file the waiver by September 1st (same deadline as fee payment)

My Honest Take on the Waiver:
If you're actually working your claims, the waiver makes sense - you're doing the work anyway. But if you're mostly holding claims as investments and only visit occasionally, just pay the $200. The paperwork and record-keeping requirements for the waiver can be a hassle, and the risk of making a mistake isn't worth saving $200.
How to Pay Your Maintenance Fees
You have several options for paying your annual maintenance fee:
Option 1: Online Payment (Recommended)
Pay through the BLM's online system at blm.gov. Fastest and provides instant confirmation. You'll need your claim serial numbers.
Option 2: Mail Payment
Send check or money order to your state BLM office. Mail early! Allow at least 2-3 weeks for processing. Send via certified mail for proof of delivery.
Option 3: In-Person at BLM Office
Visit your state BLM office and pay directly. Get a receipt. This is guaranteed to meet the deadline if done before September 1st.
