The historic Norman Parker Elk Creek placer operation was a documented commercial producer.

Contemporary 1937–1938 reports state that Parker tested the gravel at approximately $0.50 in gold per cubic yard from top to bottom at the historic $35/oz gold price — equivalent to approximately 0.44 grams of gold per cubic yard.

Parker reportedly recovered approximately 20 ounces during an early operating period, and a June 1938 report described one day's cleanup containing approximately 16 ounces of nuggets and fine gold.

The operation used two dragline shovels, with one stripping overburden and the second feeding pay gravel into a washing plant.
