SLATED FOR DIGGIN 40AC UNPATENTED PLACER MINING CLAIM SIERRA CO CA106807583

Description

"Slated for Diggin" (BLM serial CA106807583) is a 40-acre unpatented placer mining claim in the historic Gibsonville Mining District of Sierra County, California.

The claim

This 40-acre claim boasts an absolutely incredible level of access to the camping and main staging area. From there the claim runs a full 1,300 feet downstream on the East Branch of Slate Creek, a historically prominent and locally famous gold waterway. Multiple smaller feeder creeks enter the main channel, and the localized Tertiary channel deposits are what made this area a placer-mining legend.

The claim offers big potential and should appeal to larger groups or families looking for big, flat, open camping with lots of material to move and ample water for operations. There's room for family, friends, and neighbors — come out and write your own chapter of Slate Creek's story.

A truly rare blend of remote setting, gold-rush history, and drive-up access.

Pair it up

Couple this claim with the neighboring 20-acre "Depot Diggins" claim for a discounted rate, and add the allure of a large section of old workings with great potential for metal detecting plus a small bonus stream that's good for panning.

Gibsonville & slate creek gold history

Gibsonville, at the head of Slate Creek (elevation 5,430 feet), was settled in 1851 after a prospector named Gibson discovered rich gold placers at the site. Sacramento newspapers were reporting rich quartz veins and paying placers here by December 1851, and the camp supported a post office until 1910 as the gold wound down. Today Gibsonville is a ghost town, but the deep Tertiary gravels along Slate Creek and its branches remain productive prospecting ground.
